Minion Avengers

This is something I worked on in between commission jobs.  The next time I table at a convention I'll probably have a bunch of these to sell.  I used some pill-shaped pens as the base, electrical wire for the arms, and sculpted everything else.  I have this set for sale on my store page.

Amadeus Cho Cosplay Dragon Con 2011

So now that my Adamantine Mace got to make an appearance in to Dragon Con.  I know he's a pretty obscure character, but it's awesome that I got 4-5 recognitions each day.  People even wanted to get pictures of me each day.  It was an awesome feeling.

I'm Amadeus Viet!
I even found a Hercules!
Lots of fun.  If you want check out more pics of myself and my fellow Earth's Mightiest Podcast co-host Alex you can go here.

Adamantine Mace Cosplay Prop (Incredible Hercules/Amadeus Cho)

So Dragon Con is coming up and this will be my first venture into cosplaying.  So I'm dressing up as Amadeus Cho, most well known as Hercules's sidekick from Incredible Hercules. It's fairly easy to dress up as him; just a black suit, green shirt, yellow tie, and a gameboy.  The hardest part of course is the Adamantine Mace.  It's not 100% accurate, but I'm still proud of how it turned out.

The Adamantine Mace was made from 2 gallon apple juice bottles, a Nerf Mace, a Styrofoam disc, and 6 nail file emery boards.  Look for an Asian guy in a black suit holding this bad boy at Dragon Con.  If you see me, come by and say hi.

Princess Leia Hello Kitty and Badtz Maru Han Solo

So this is something a little different from what I usually do.  My friend Mari is both a huge Hello Kitty and Star Wars fan so I decided to combine the two and make these 2 inch figurines as a wedding gift for them.  I sculpted these from scratch then glued the blasters to their hands.  Well congrats to my good friends Mari and John!

Heroes Con 2011 signatures and sketches

June 3-5 was Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC.  It was a pretty amazing con and got to meet a bunch of artists and writers.  I'm definitely going to go back every year when I can.

So day 1 I was on a mission to get signatures and sketches in all my binds.  Took me most of the day and a few trips back and forth to my car carrying these books around.  My shoulder was killing me afterwards.

Annihilation: Conquest Bind - Sketch and signature by Mike Lilly.  Signatures of Scott Hanna and Bob Almond
Civil War Vol. 1 Bind - Signatures from Scott Hanna, Dexter Vines, and Laura Martin
Civil War Vol. 2 Bind - Sketch and Signature from Scott Hanna. Signatures from Dexter Vines and Tim Townsend
Incredible Hercules Bind - Sketch/Signatures from Clayton Henry, David A. Williams, Ed McGuinness, and Chris Haley. Signature from Gabriel Hardman.
Chaos War Bind - Sketch/Signature from Tommy Lee Edwards, Bob McLeod, Brandon Peterson, Dan Panosian, and Ed McGuiness.  Signatures from Rick Ketchum
Immortal Iron Fist Bind - Signature from Matt Fraction

X-men: Second Coming Bind - Signatures from Brian Reber, Matt Wilson, and Matt Fraction
So yeah it was both awesome and exhausting.  It was pretty funny that Brandon Peterson started drawing a Black Bolt in my Chaos War bind.  Not wanting to pull out my inner nerd voice Black Bolt wasn't in Chaos War! I asked nicely "Was Black Bolt in Chaos War?"  He replied back saying "Aw crap no he isn't is he?" so he just drew a word bubble on Black Bolt saying "I was in War of Kings."

And finally I got a great sketch on a blank #9 issue of Darkwing Duck from James Silvani.  He made me a Nightcrawler Darkwing Duck.

Greg Pak Sketches and Signs My Binds

This is one of the main reasons why I bind my comic books.  Getting a collection of books and getting sketches and signatures in the books.  So one of my favorite writers, Mr. Greg Pak was doing a signing in Atlanta last weekend over at Criminal Records. I got to bring my Incredible Hercules and Chaos War binds for him to sign. He was a really nice guy and it was great meeting him.

I shall call him T-RocksTaur

It feels like it's been ages since I've updated, but it's only been a month.  I've been studying for a Professional Engineer's license exam that I have to take April 8th and 9th.  I can't wait to get back to a normal life of telling jokes and making toys.

So in the mean time I thought I'd share some twitter awesomeness with one of my favorite comic book writers, Mr. Greg Pak .  So a little back story...Greg Pak has an odd obsession with centaurs.  So our conversation via Twitter was something like this.
