Here's a Nova action figure. I've been a big fan of the cosmic Marvel stuff starting with Annihilation on so I was happy to finally get this done. Nova was made using a DC Universe Flash and a Marvel Legends Iron Fist head. The star on the head was made from toothpicks, and everything else was sculpted.

The fourth custom of Avengers Academy I made was Veil. Veil was made using a Marvel Legends Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers). I used electrical tape to wrap around the body, then used electrical tape to wrap around electrical wire to make the ribbons. The hands and lower torso are detachable so you can pose her in normal form or gas form.

The third custom of Avengers Academy I made is Hazmat. Hazmat was made with a Marvel Legends Psylocke base with a Marvel Legends Marvel Girl head. The clear plastic front was a cut down helmet of a DC Universe Nautkeloi and sculpted over it.

Adamantine Mace Cosplay Prop (Incredible Hercules/Amadeus Cho)

So Dragon Con is coming up and this will be my first venture into cosplaying. So I'm dressing up as Amadeus Cho, most well known as Hercules's sidekick from Incredible Hercules. It's fairly easy to dress up as him; just a black suit, green shirt, yellow tie, and a gameboy. The hardest part of course is the Adamantine Mace. It's not 100% accurate, but I'm still proud of how it turned out.

The Adamantine Mace was made from 2 gallon apple juice bottles, a Nerf Mace, a Styrofoam disc, and 6 nail file emery boards. Look for an Asian guy in a black suit holding this bad boy at Dragon Con. If you see me, come by and say hi.

Now that she has some new powers due to Super Soldier Serum/Infinity Formula in New Avengers, I decided to make a custom Mockingbird action figure.

Mockingbird was made with a Marvel Legends 2-pack Black Widow base, with a DC Direct Amory Supergirl head from Camko Kid Castings. The glasses were from a DC Universe Booster Gold. The nightsticks are just made from wooden dowels. Everything else was sculpted.

June 3-5 was Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC. It was a pretty amazing con and got to meet a bunch of artists and writers. I'm definitely going to go back every year when I can.

So yeah it was both awesome and exhausting. It was pretty funny that Brandon Peterson started drawing a Black Bolt in my Chaos War bind. Not wanting to pull out my inner nerd voice Black Bolt wasn't in Chaos War! I asked nicely "Was Black Bolt in Chaos War?" He replied back saying "Aw crap no he isn't is he?" so he just drew a word bubble on Black Bolt saying "I was in War of Kings."

And finally I got a great sketch on a blank #9 issue of Darkwing Duck from James Silvani. He made me a Nightcrawler Darkwing Duck.

Samus Action Figure Redesign

So there was a custom contest on Figure Realm to make an armored character. I decided I was going to make Samus from Metroid but with some slight changes. I wanted make it so she doesn't have super huge shoulder pads anymore. The base was made from an Iron Man Movie (Wave 1 Walmart Exclusive) Iron Man - Stealth Operations suit. The shoulder pads were made from modified ML Ant Man helmets. The gun came from some random transformer gun I had lying around. Everything else was sculpted. The forums voted it to be a 3.05 out of 5. Not my best work, but it was still fun to make.

A friend asked me to make him a Death Gambit from X-men: Hellbound #1-3, a tie-in to the Second Coming Crossover.

Death Gambit was made with a Marvel Legends Havok, ML Bullseye hands, and a ML Professor X head. I glued wire for the lining on the shirt, used the trench coat from the ML Gambit, and belt from a ML Captain America. The demon head is a severed head of Malebolgia from an old Spawn figure I had. I know it's a lot bigger than the one in the comic but I just thought it looked pretty badass. Everything else was sculpted.

Incredible Hercules Comic Book Bind

Here we have my second comic book bind which is a collection of Incredible Hercules. I was intrigued by the character of Amadeus Cho and then later really started digging the story and all the characters. I'm slightly disappointed that the bind didn't turn out as well as X-men: Second Coming, but still pretty awesome to have it all in one book. This was my first bind made from trade paperbacks and I wasn't as careful in separating the pages. The bindery was probably a little scared to trim the pages since they seemed to be all different sizes. I love the clean look on the spine though. So without further ado. Here's my Incredible Hercules bind.

My first comic book bind. X-men Second Coming

Ok so I know this isn't a custom action figure, but I've recently started getting into the world of comic book binding. Basically I got a collection of comic books that I collected over the last year or so and took it to a book bindery to get bound. Why get them bound you ask? For me there are three reasons.

It's a nice way of displaying your comic book collections on a bookshelf.
Getting all the issues bound into one book takes up less space than to have it in a box with bags and boards.

Mighty Bluebeam Action Figure

This commission job kind of came on a whim. Basically I was on the website of a particular PDF editing software that I use at work called Bluebeam. To make a long story short I saw on their website that they had a mascot super hero on their twitter backround so I just contacted them to see if they were interested in me making an action figure of their character.

Mighty Bluebeam was created from a Marvel Legends Yellowjacket action figure. I sculpted all the parts of the head and the rest was pretty much a repaint.

Warpath X-Force Action Figure (black and gray costume)

Ever since Messiah War I've been a big fan of the new X-Force team. So I'm going to work my way into making the entire team. The first one to be made is Warpath. Warpath was made from a Marvel Legends Doc Samson with a Marvel Legends Hulkling legs. The knives are modified Legendary Heroes Clownface knives.

Jake and Lynne Action Figures

This next commission job was a wedding gift for one of my best friends Lynne and her now husband Jake.

Basically I decided to put the lovely couple in super hero form, so I got my friend from Havana Designs to draw me a super hero caricatures of them and I'd make the action figures of that picture. I gave her the color scheme they wanted, the weapons used, and the general costume design. Lynne wanted a skirt and cape, and Jake wanted a cape and battleaxe. From there Havana created this...

I had to use a mix of parts and due to being a bit rushed to get this done before their wedding I completely forgot to take prelim pictures.

So for my friend Lynne I used a Marvel Legends 2-pack Elektra for the body followed by the head of an ML X-23. The hair, nose, and gold amulet were sculpted. The cape, sword, and shield came from a ML Taskmaster and were modified to look more like the picture. The skirt came from an ML Dr. Doom.

For Jake I used a ML Antman for the base and an Aquaman head. The green sashes, gold amulet, knee pads, and pointy things on the gloves were all sculpted. I took the cape from a ML Black Panther and the battleaxe from an ML Thor.

There you have it. Lynne and Jake back to back ready to take on whatever life throws at them with their weapons of mass destruction. Congratulations you two!!!

Havana Designs Action Figure

Everquest Gnome Action Figure

Ok so I decided to try and go through other geek markets. So I tried out making on of my Rob's Everquest characters below.

Since I work from a 6" scale and he's a gnome I decided to use figures in the 3.75" scale to try to make it accurate if I were to do any of the regular sized characters in the future. This gnome was made from a G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra Arctic Assault Storm Shadow with a Marvel Legends Nightcrawler as the head.

Amadeus Cho Action Figure

Here we have the 7th smartest person in the Marvel Universe, Amadeus Cho, from the issues of the Heroic Age: Prince of Power series. Being one of the few (if not only) Asian American heroes in the Marvel Universe I wanted to show some pride and make the former sidekick of Hercules. Amadeus Cho is made from a ML Asguardian base figure with legs and sports coat from the ML Professor X. The hands came from a Spider-man Classics Series 2 Daredevil. Everything else was sculpted. The Adamantine mace accessory was made from the mace of a ML Hercules and sculpted to look more accurate to the comic book.

Armored Daredevil Action Figure

Here we have a custom Marvel Legends Armored Daredevil. This custom was inspired by the Bowen Statue design. Daredevil was made with an X-men Classics Iceman. I added the base window from the ML Movie Daredevil. The nun-chucks were made from the Face-off 2-pack Daredevil with some electrical wire. The accessories can be seen in the pose picture.

Gambit Action Figure

I'm finally done with my test so I can now get back to doing the things I love which making customs and telling jokes on stage. Here is a custom Marvel Legends Gambit. I got the recipe from Jin Saotome. I used the Marvel Legends Gambit base figure and took the trench coat and arms of a ML Ultimate Nick Fury. I also added a new staff made out of a wooden dowel rod since the plastic one I had would never stay straight. I also cut out two cards from the charged card accessory that came with the ML Gambit. These accessories can be seen in the pose picture.

Custom Nightcrawler "Bamf" Action Figure Stand

This is something I threw together pretty quick. I give a custom "bamf" stand for my Marvel Legends Nightcrawler action figure. The stand is made of 2 bottoms of a Marvel Legends Storm stands. I basically glued some wooden dowels to keep them together then sculpted around the dowels. Then left a hole in order to leave room to put the tail through.

Marvel vs. Capcom Strider Action Figures

Another old custom that was sold on Ebay a while back. Here is my custom Strider action figure from the Marvel vs. Capcom video game. I used a Marvel Legends Gambit figure as the base. The cape came from a cut up Black Panther's cape, and the sword came from a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Foot Soldier. The sword on the shoulder came from an old 5" Weapon X figure. The sword on the shoulder can't be removed or used, and everything else was sculpted.

AoA Sunfire Action Figure

So I give you the first custom I ever made. Sunfire from the Age of Apocalypse series. This was before they made an the official one here. Sunfire was made from a Human Torch Fantastic Four Movie series figure. The mask was sculpted on and everything else was painted.

Cyclops Action Figure

Another addition to my X-men collection. This time it's X-men's leader Cyclops. The X-men Classics version of Cyclops that was made was WAY too skinny. My custom Cyclops was made with a DC Universe Classics Gotham City 5 Superman body, with the X-men Classics Cyclops head. The pockets on the belt were taken from some extra belts I had from a Marvel Legends Bullseye, and the X on the chest came from a Marvel Legend Storm action figure. The optic blast in the posing picture was just some clear plastic cut from an action figure box and painted with clear red paint. Everything else was sculpted with Apoxie Fixit Sculpt.

Psylocke Action Figure

I started wanting to have a full collection of all the X-men in their costumes from the 90's. So I here now give you Psylocke. Although I thought Psylocke on the Marvel Legends line was decent, I decided that I was going to try to make a better one. My custom Psylocke was made from a Marvel Legends Psylocke head and a Marvel Legends Twin Pack Series 1 Elektra body. I made the Psylocke head to look more Asian and also gave her more of a ponytail style hair. The Elektra body was better proportioned as well as had hands that could hold a sword and psychic knife. The belt came from the original Psylocke, the sword came from the Elektra figure, and the hair and was sculpted. The psychic knife was something I bought on ebay while back and was repainted.

Goliath from Gargoyles Action Figure

I went on a phase of watching a bunch of Gargoyles episodes for nostalgic reasons. This inspired me to make my latest custom that went up for sale on Ebay. Here is my custom Goliath action figure from the cartoon Gargoyles series. I made it out of a Marvel Legends Beast, a Marvel Legends Lizard tail, and wings from the Marvel Legends build-a-figure Annihilus. This custom went on to a buyer in France.
